Itinerary

Day 1: Chandigarh → Narkanda (Arrival & Transfer) Start your journey from Chandigarh and drive into the Himalayas via Shimla. The scenery turns into pine forests and apple orchards as you reach Narkanda (approx. 9,000 ft). If time and road conditions permit, you may visit Hatu Peak for stunning winter panoramas. Overnight: Narkanda

Descend towards the Sutlej Valley near Rampur and continue on the Indo-Tibet Highway. Cross Karcham Dam at the Sutlej–Baspa confluence and enter the beautiful Sangla Valley along the Baspa River. If feasible, visit Chitkul (road/weather dependent in winter) for a quick scenic stop. Overnight: Sangla

Explore Chitkul, known for charming wooden houses and river walks (winter landscapes can be snowy and quiet). Later, drive back towards Karcham and ascend to Kalpa, famous for close-up views of the Kinner Kailash range—often spectacular in winter light. Overnight: Kalpa

Enter the higher mountains as green valleys gradually change into Spiti’s barren winter terrain. Visit Nako Lake, continue to Gue Village to see the naturally preserved mummy, and reach Tabo—home to the ancient Tabo Monastery, celebrated for murals and frescoes. Overnight: Tabo

Visit the dramatic Dhankar Monastery perched on a cliff (Dhankar Lake trek is usually not advised in winter due to snow/ice). Continue to the peaceful village of Lhalung to see the Serkhang (Golden) Monastery, then head into Pin Valley for Mud Village (subject to winter road status). Proceed to Kaza, the heart of Spiti. Overnight: Kaza

A full day exploring Spiti’s iconic high-altitude gems. Visit Key Monastery, continue to Kibber and Gette for panoramic viewpoints, then drive to Hikkim (world’s highest post office), Komic (highest motorable village area) and Langza, famous for fossils and the Buddha statue overlooking the valley. Overnight: Kaza

Begin your return journey via the same Kinnaur route (winter access is typically via this side). Enjoy changing landscapes as you descend from Spiti back towards Kinnaur/Sutlej valley regions and proceed to Rampur for night halt. Overnight: Rampur

Drive back to Chandigarh and conclude the tour with unforgettable winter memories from Spiti and Kinnaur. Tour Ends
